The Modern Age started in 1789. In the 19th century there were many important changes and inventions. This was called the Industrial Revolution.  

STEAM TRAINS were invented.

Many people moved from THE COUNTRYSIDE TO TOWNS AND CITIES. FACTORIES (FÁBRICAS) appeared. They used MACHINES (máquinas) to make lots of products. 

In the 20th century people´s lives were better and there were changes in transports too.

Diego Velázquez was a Spanish painter. Las Meninas is an oil painting by the Spanish painter Diego Velázquez. The painting hangs in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. It was painted in 1656, 17th century A.D.

The Early Modern Age started in 1492. In that year Christopher Columbus discovered America. 

The printing press (imprenta) was invented in the 15th century. There were more books. Two of history´s most famous writers (escritores) lived in this period: Shakespeare and Cervantes. 

Other spanish writers such as Lope de Vega and artists such as El Greco and Diego Velázquez also lived then. 

This period in Spain is called the GOLDEN AGE.

In 1789 there was a REVOLUTION in France.

Cuando trabajes en equipo aprende a pedir ayuda y a dejarte ayudar por los demás. Comparte ideas, aporta aquello que pueda ser bueno para todos. Unidos somos más fuertes; no importa si no lo hacemos todo bien, siempre habrá algo en cada uno de nosotros que nos convertirá en especiales. 

Esa es la esencia del trabajo en equipo: la riqueza y la diversidad de sus miembros.

Dialogar no es solamente hablar con los demás. Podemos hablar desde muy pequeños, pero tardamos años en aprender a comunicarnos correctamente con el otro. Dialogar no significa discutir ni imponer nuestras ideas, sino de compartir palabras, los momentos de participación y saber escuchar al otro. 

Saber dialogar nos permite conocer a las personas con las que convivimos. Por eso, cuando hablamos sin escuchar, cuando callamos algo que queremos expresar o cuando no tratamos de entender lo que nos quieren decir, perdemos la comunicación.

A unos cuantos niños de tercero de primaria les han regalado pasar la tarde en el parque de atracciones de la ciudad, pero ellos quieren que vayan todos los alumnos/as de 3º. 

Inventa un diálogo para poder convencer a quienes han regalado los pases para que regalen más pases y puedan ir todos los niños.

CONDENSATION: water vapour changes into liquid water. Water vapour condenses to form clouds. It is the opposite of evaporation.

PRECIPITATION: falling water such as rain, snow or hail.

RUNOFF: water collects in rivers, lakes and makes its way back to the ocean. 

EVAPORATION: liquid water changes into water vapour when it is heated by the sun. 


OPTIONAL- You can try this experiment if you want to.

The Middle Ages started in 476 A.D. with the fall of the Roman Empire. 

Muslims (musulmanes) conquered the south and called it al-Andalus. In al-Andalus, there were CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS.

PILGRIMAGES (PEREGRINACIONES) WERE VERY POPULAR IN THE MIDDLE AGES. The shell is the symbol of the Camino de Santiago today.

People built many MOSQUES (mezquitas) and PALACES (palacios), such as the Alhambra in Granada.

There were more MERCHANTS (comerciantes) and ARTISANS (artesanos).

Ancient History started when people invented writing. This was about 3500 B.C. In Ancient History Romans and Greeks appeared.

The Greeks made beautiful buildings and sculptures. The Greeks believed in many gods (dioses).

The Greeks came to the Iberian Peninsula. They called it Iberia. They wrote books about many things, such as science. The Greeks bought and sold things. This is called trade (comercio).

ROMANS

The Romans came to the Iberian Peninsula in 218 B.C. They called it Hispania. They established a big empire (imperio) and Hispania was part of this empire. The Roman Empire ended in 476 A.D.

They built aqueducts and many roads and cities.

Romans and Greeks made beautiful buildings and sculptures. They wrote books and believed in many gods. 

They invented a language called LATIN. Spanish comes from latin.
